Sustainable Craftsmanship:

Embracing Quality Over Quantity

Actions speak louder than words, so let’s take a look at what we’ve done so far…

Eco-Friendly Inks

We are proud to use PERMASET Inks which are eco-friendly and water-based, produced sustainably using 100% renewable energy and non-toxic ingredients right here in Australia.  The world requires a massive improvement in environmental performances across all industries and PERMASET Inks are helping to make it happen, from eliminating waste and reducing emissions, to removing harmful chemicals from their formulations and using recycled packaging as far as possible. Colormaker Industries is working towards a sustainability plan of net zero emissions and recycling of all waste products by 2025.

Star Partnership - ecoBiz

In 2024 we were awarded Star Partnership with ecoBiz and Business Chamber Queensland for our intiatives in waste and energy management at Just Bee Design studio.

Creating each item in small runs - we are consciously choosing how we deal with our waste and energy and it’s wonderful to be recognised with this Star Partnership.

Linen - OEKO-TEX Certified

We hand Screenprint our designs onto Pure Linen Teatowels and Tablerunners that are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Certified.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is one of the world's best-known labels for textiles tested for harmful substances. It stands for customer confidence and high product safety

A key reason why linen is a sustainable fabric is because the entire flax plant can be woven into a fibre, which means that almost no waste is left over from the spinning and weaving process.

Once the flax fibres have been spun and woven into linen fabric, the environmental benefits keep on coming! Linen is naturally biodegradable. This means there's less waste and it does less damage to ecosystems once a product has come to the end of its life. And it's extremely long-wearing, meaning less waste

Recycled Cardboard Packaging

We use recycled cardboard as our inserts for the Linen Teatowel packaging. The paper wraps on the Teatowels are printed in house on 100% Recycled A4 Paper and cut to size.

All of our mail orders are wrapped in recycled newspaper that has overprints on it from the Screenprinting process and off cuts from our linen fabric salvage edges.
